With the new wave of making Safety the number one priority throughout the construction industry, Benson Electric has stepped up and met the needs demanded by

its customers. Over 75% of our electricians are OSHA 30 trained. They receive annual and bi-annual training in fields such as Confined Space, Aerial Lift, Arc Flash, First Aid, Fire Extinguisher, and Harness Safety to list a few. For customers requiring ISNetWorld participation and OQ (operator qualified) training, Benson Electric has a certified NCCER trainer that is qualified to teach classes in Liquid Pipeline Field operations, Pipeline Maintenance/Mechanical, Pipeline Electrical and Instrumentation, and Pipeline Corrosion Control. Benson Electric’s Safety department supplies its employees with up to date safety equipment, including testing, rotation, and calibration of its equipment in a routine timely fashion. Along with safety equipment there is a library of safety forms available, such as Job Hazard Analysis, Excavation, weekly tailgate meetings, equipment checklists, gas monitor test sheets, Lock out Tag out, and Confined Space entry forms. Benson Electric also has a safety committee that meets once a month to take input from field employees and safety personnel on what’s needed to keep pace with the ever changing world of safety.

Safety Department

Nathan Sapik is our Safety and Training Director and Gordy Edgette is our Safety and Training Manager. Nate took on this department 10 years ago and brought Gordy Edgette on when it became apparent we needed a full time position. Nate is also qualified to train for osha 30 certification. It has been our goal to have as many personnel as possible certified OSHA 30, we are 2/3 of the way to our 100% goal.

Gordy Edgette is certified to instruct OQ training, used mainly for pipeline and refinery work. In our area that includes Enbridge, Plains Midstream, and Clumet.

Gordy has also set up a monthly online training program, last year we had 30 of our field staff complete the training and receive a $100 Visa card.

Gordy has also engaged a company that allows us to train the common yearly/bi-yearly activities, lift training, forklift, fall protection, and so on, issuing certification cards for each.

Customer Requirements

As our customers have become more discriminating we have had to keep up, whether it is through the rigorous ISNet World requirements or Browse, as well as Textura and others, we work hard to prove we are up to whatever requirements are thrown our way. Be assured you cannot find a more well trained, safety conscious group than we have at Benson Electric Company. We are very and rightfully proud of all our employees.
